Monthly Meet N Greet – 30th September

Monthly Meet N Greets are held so we can all meet up, have a chat, and even go for a cruise. The meeting place is at Supercheap North Mackay car park at 12.30pm on the last Sunday of the month.

The next one will be on the 30th of September, so if your keen to catch up and get things going, come down and have a chat.

At the last Meet N Greet on the 26th August, it was decided that we should go on a cruise up to Eungella and stop off at the Eungella Chalet at the end. From there we grabbed a few drinks/food. After the Chalet we headed up to broken river and beyond to the new section of bitumen road for some really fun twisting roads. I was impressed, it was a really good run.
A few of the new stickers were handed out, and a few orders were made for new ones.

The 24th June meet up went well, madmike, whitenoisewrx and myself turned up and we discussed different designs of stickers and getting them made up at Mackay Stickers & Signs. We also talked about an upcoming caliper painting day, I’m thinking maybe a bbq round at my house also.

Sorry about the lateness of this, but the cruise went well, we only had a few cars turn up in comparison to previous years (21 last year, 15 the year before) but it was still a fun day. It made it a lot easier to keep everyone together and there were no delays as it was easy to communicate with everyone.

I came prepared this time with maps for everyone, but still even next time I might try to organise UHF radios for everyone (it makes the chit chat between cars keeps things interesting as well). And also maybe grabbing everyones phone numbers incase of loss of communication on the cruise.

That evening after the cruise there was a food and wine festival on and we had a great time, and the next day I headed out for a three island boat cruise with snorkelling and swimming.

I have a few pics from the day, ill post these up soon.

One more day to go! Meet at the Subaru dealership on the corner of Gregory & Gordon St Mackay at 10am.

Airlie Beach Mega Cruise 3!!!

Cruise Itinerary:
Day 1, Sat 5th May:
Rockhampton & Gladstone drivers head to Mackay to stay the night.
Day 2, Sun 6th May: Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone & Rockhampton drivers leave Mackay Subaru to meet with Townsville drivers at Proserpine to head to Shute Harbour & Airlie Beach.
Day 3, Mon 7th May: You can participate in such activities like day trips to the islands with Snorkeling/Scuba Diving, Quad Bike Riding, Vic Hislops Shark Center, swimming at the lagoon.

Airlie Beach is a large beachside community with lots of nice places to eat, sleep and play. Airlie is 590kms from Gladstone and 270km from Townsville. Airlie Beach is popular amongst backpackers on their way north to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as families and yachtsman. It is also the base from which to explore and sail around the Whitsundays, with many trips out to the Great Barrier Reef. Other attractions around Airlie Beach include plenty of water activities, horse riding, sky diving, quad bike riding, walking around the Conway National Park and the Vic Hislop Great White Shark and Whale Expo. The nightlife in Airlie Beach is also good, with plenty of bars and clubs so you can dance the night away.

People cruising up from Gladstone and Rocky or further south can stop over in Mackay on Saturday night. Then leave Mackay on Sunday from Subaru North Jacklin to meet up with the North Queensland (Townsville/Ayr etc) drivers at Proserpine and then cruise on through to Shute Harbour and finish at Airlie Beach for the night. Its a really great drive!!

If you need a place to stay at Airlie Beach book into the “Airlie Beach Hotel” in the center of town, it overlooks the ocean and town central. It has undercover secure parking, a good bar, a couple of restaurants downstairs and a pool. For southern Travellers book into Mackay hotels early as they get very busy on the weekends.

Last year we had a total of 21 cars coming from all over the state, including Townsville, Ayr, Mackay, Rockhampton, Moranbah, & Gladstone.

For an idea of what the cruise looked like last year, see our gallery for pictures.

Already there is discussion in our MackayWRX forums and in the National Rexnet forums.

Cruise #7, 14th January 2007, Northern Beaches Mackay – Completed

Thanks everyone for showing up! It was a good turnout considering how hot and humid it was on the day. Hope everyone enjoyed the BBQ and the chat at the end. Ill have to do more of these.

Cruise #7 - Shoal Point

This is the first cruise where we have had a lot of turns etc through suburban streets. Its really hard to keep everyone together, so next cruise ill try to make a little simpler and provide maps.

There were a few new faces on this one, and hopefully we’ll see more of them in the future.

Big thanks to Allan for providing the drinks for the BBQ and Gazza for helping to cook the steaks. :)

It was really good to see our local Subaru Manager Chris on the cruise as well! Hopefully this trend will continue.

For pictures and info from the day, see the forums, and the gallery.

Mackay WRX Cruise #7, Mackay Northern Beaches, 14th January. Well its been a long time since the last cruise and its time we get together again for another cruise and a BBQ. I haven’t taken us around the northern beaches as yet, so I think we should go for a drive around there.

I’m sure there will be some top spots for pictures and some good BBQ areas to be found. On the day we will meet up at the car park between Subaru North Jacklin and Ergon Energy on Gregory Street , Mackay. The departure time will be approximately 10am.The cruise will take us on a spirited drive through the Northern Beaches and finshes up with a free BBQ and a chat. I plan to be handing out some free MackayWRX stickers as well on the day.
